The Santa Maria de Flôr da Rosa Monastery
The Crato became an important town when the Order of Hospitallers received from D. Sancho II, in 1232, vast territories in the Alto Alentejo. About two kilometers north of the villa, the great Monastery of Flor da Rosa was built in 1356 by the then Prior of Crato, D. Álvaro Gonçalves Pereira.
